The web site has had a major update. (Virtually) all information has been transferred from the old Wiki site and the Wiki will no longer be updated. Obsolete Wiki pages have been left in place for now.
We plan to initiate uploading of PDI images for future competitions (starting with comp #5 – to be judged on April 1). The uploading site is currently available (via the Competitions menu) in pilot mode for familiarisation and testing. We will of course let you know when the site goes live to accept images for the next competition.
After Wednesday’s competition we’re now half way through the year; and at the halfway point the clear leader is Keith Pritchard! For the full details head over to the POTY web page
As well as the Open Projection and Set Subject “Strength” competitions taking place tonight, it’s the last handing-in date for your prints for the next competition. And it’s the last handing-in date for your L&CPU Individual competition entries; prints + digital.
So there will be 16×20 prints everywhere tonight. No – hold on – they have to be 40x50cm otherwise they will be thrown in the air and stamped on, not unlike my print in the last monthly comp.
Tomorrow (Friday 9th January) the Project Group have organised a Practical Portrait and Macro evening, using the club’s new Studio Flash. All members are welcome, not just Project Group members, but a condition of entry is that you may have to volunteer to act as the portraiture model for a short time!
Bring along your cameras, tripods lenses, meters, phones, remotes and anything else you think you may need.
Meet in the Small Hall from 7.15 pm
2015 kicks off with our first open print competition of the year. You handed in your entries over a month ago so it may be a nice surprise to find out what you entered when the judge talks us through the photographs.
…one of the best supported camera clubs in the north west of England and is for everyone who enjoys taking photographs whether in digital or traditional film formats from beginner to expert.
Include a competition standard print viewer, digital and traditional slide projectors and studio lighting equipment. We have a lending library of photographic books and magazines. There’s also a traditional monochrome darkroom available exclusively to members throughout the year.
Members’ evenings including demonstrations and advice, special interest discussions and practical sessions.
As well as the regular Wednesday meetings, special interest sessions involving discussions, demonstrations and practical work are arranged from time to time – usually on Friday evenings at the Guild.
Visitors are most welcome at all meetings – £4.00 per visit. Prospective new members are encouraged to attend as a visitor during the first month of each season before committing to full enrolment when any visitor fees paid will be refunded.
Includes talks and presentations on many aspects of photography. Monthly competitions assessed by qualified external judges and exhibitions of members’ images.
