A word from the Chairman

At the last project group meeting we had an excellent turnout which meant it was great but meant we overran our time. We've had a couple of volunteers who are going to help with the projection of images at this and other meetings, however if you want to help your club we would welcome more volunteers. To speed things up, it would be very helpful if your pen drive/memory stick only contains the images for that meeting's projects. as this will save time trying to find the images.

Following the discussions on interest groups, a couple of them are up and running.  I've listed the other groups below and their leaders. If you want to join one of these groups, please send an email to chair@wilmslowphotoclub.org.uk with the name of the interest group in the header. I will then forward the email to the leader who will get back to you.

The interest groups and leaders are

Garden/Flowers/Macro - Kathy Halsall
Wildlife - Dave Swann
Affinity Photo - David Hardy - New
Zine/photobooks - Vincent Verzijl

Guest Speakers

This weeks speakers for those who couldn't make it was titled "At home with the Prenton Joneses". The Prenton Joneses, or as they were introduce themselves Rob and Sharon, are a couple of renowned photographers specialising in the creative, and often controversial area known as the composite image.

This was a fascinating talk on the art of producing a composite image working along a common theme. We enjoyed a few of their excellently produced videos showing some of the fantastic award winning images which they have entered into many salons over the years. In addition we were treated to some live demonstrations by Sharon on how to produce various effects, such as creating a mist effect using images from her vast stock of cloud pictures, in addition to the many functions within PhotoShop.

I'm sure that like me, and many of the audience who attended, have been inspired to stretch their photoshop knowledge and may be even venture into producing the odd composite image.

Members evening

Next week's meeting is a members evening. The main event will be the Smartphone challenge. So make sure you upload your entries into PhotoEntry before the closing date which is noon this Sunday.

Bite the Bulb!

A short extract from The Ensign Handbook of Photography , dated around 1915. It demonstrates that some of the camera handling principles have not changed in over 100 years.
