A word from the Chairman

Some folks asked if they could see all the images that had been submitted for the photo-editing challenge so we've updated PhotoEntry so you can view everyone's image if you go to the challenge on PhotoEntry.  If you don't have a login, please contact the competition secretary.

We also noted that we had forgotten April 8th when we put together our programme so this is now a members evening. On this evening we will be holding a competition review where we will ask member to talk about their images and how they made them, these will be from both competition winners and from other members.

Cheadle Alliance Round 2

This week Stockport Photographic Society hosted the 2nd round of the Cheadle Alliance competition. Many thanks to SPS for an enjoyable evening, the judge for the evening as Rebecca Entwistle.

The competition started with the print section, where we had a modicum of success with four images being held back for further appraisal. Two of the four held images achieved score of 19 and one receiving a score of 18, so well done to the authors. After this round we were in second place being separated from Bramhall by one point.

On to the PDI round. This is where again, like at Bramhall we came unstuck. We only managed to have one Image held back, and this only managed to score 17. Like in the print section I thought our images were strong contenders, but the judge unfortunately had other views. So needless to say we didn't do so well. We finally ended in third place dropping behind Stockport PS.

This is quite pertinent to the last piece, and with some interesting point.

Project Group

Next  week is the first meeting of the year for the Project Group. So there is still time to capture some images for the project group meeting.

 As usual, the interpretation of the theme is up to you but the chosen subjects, are 

1. Use of filters -  This could be digital, i.e filters in imaging software  or dare I say it, old fashioned screw on lens filters. Remember the square Cokin range? thats the sort of thing if you still have them/can find them.

2. Eggs -                Fried, poached, scrambled, broken, Easter, film noir, as a lighting exercise, or….. or….., or however you wish to do it.

There is no specific image size requirements but keeping it to 1-4 MB keeps the machine working smoothly. If you have any questions or suggestions, please get in touch with meThanks

Just one small request, please keep the amount of images to 5 or 6 this is so we can appreciate all the images brought along.

Request from the committee

Please would you put a note in the newsletter asking Whatsapp users to identify themselves by name in their profile. A photograph to aid putting names to faces would also be useful. We need to note that this is not compulsory as some members may have, unfounded in my view, concerns about digital security, but it would be jolly useful.
