Susie Freeman

This weeks speaker was Susie Freeman whom we have had at the club in a different, role as a guest judge.
Susie gave a very interesting talk and presentation on optical illusion in photography, it was a bit trippy at times and mind boggling, but all in all a fantastic night.

Project Group

The next meeting is a project group evening.

Tuesday 27th October and the chosen themes are:

1. ‘Bridges’. An everyday thing that many of us don’t even notice but they can be exceptional pieces of design, beauty and ingenuity. And also dull. The challenge is to photograph them in an appealing way.

2. ‘A beautiful picture of something ugly’. A contradiction in terms maybe, but also a challenge to your imagination and photographic skills. What can you come up with?

As usual the interpretation is up to you, it is not a competition and the idea is to get you out taking pictures of different subjects (not digging them out of the archive please) with the aim of give a five minute presentation. There is opportunity here to try those different camera settings and learn what they can/cannot do.

About me

"I'm Tony North, a photographer based in Manchester, England. My main passion is macro (mainly insects, flowers and fungi), although I also love urban, landscape and astrophotography.

I have always loved nature, but there's something about spending a few hours in a wildflower meadow capturing images of butterflies and dragonflies that really excites me.
I also enjoy competing, whether in BPE Salons (I am currently ABPE) or in major competitions such as the International Garden Photographer of the Year, which I won outright in 2023."
