Rebecca Entwistle

Our guest speaker this week was Rebecca Entwistle. Rebecca gave a great presentation on what Judges look for when judging a competition, and what you should take from their critique if you wish to improve your competition images.

Part of the night was dedicated to a practical session were we  separated into groups. We then had to then simulate, as a group how we would judge the images presented to us. As a group we would then give feedback via constructive critique on each image. We then had to score the images as a group, with some interesting scores and comments. What was also interesting was how close we came to the actual scores the images obtained in competition. All the prints were supplied by Rebecca.

Members Evening

The first Members’ is next week. We have a number of  members who have volunteered to do a session: David Higton - Underwater, Chris - Chance Encounters, to mention a couple Thanks guys! Feel free to do up to 20 mins each if you can. 👌. There may be space for one or two more if there are any volunteers. Otherwise, perhaps we can discuss what else the members would like to use these evenings for 😊. Fiona

Following on from our recent speaker here’s an external competition people might like to enter. Because it’s local and it’s easy to enter the print sections.  Note there’s not much time left to enter, especially if you’re sending in prints.  But they are A$ prints so it is easy to take part!  As an entrant you can attend the awards ceremony, and maybe pick up your awards in person.  Details below:

Project Group

The first project group meeting will be on October 7th.

Project Group theme is Rain and/or What I did during the Summer.

1. 'Up to 10 images from the Summer’ - this is a wide open theme, apart from selected holiday pictures, consider other successes, failures, what went wrongs, what should I have done in this situation? etc. In fact any image that can be admired, talked about or learned from.

2.‘Rain’ Hopefully it should arrive here again at some time , or, where did you go to find it? and how do you photograph it ?? Remember its not a competition, but taking part can often lead to Competition entries. I hope you all have a good Summer.
