Project Group
Project Group Update. Tuesday saw the last Project Group meeting of this season with 18 members being present, it was good to see Gary Shultz return after many weeks of being unable to attend.
The chosen subjects of Chocolate and Droplets had proved to many of us to be quite a challenge, for others it was less so, especially those who had the aid of mannequins and Lego men (allegedly) recovered from the attic. Great aids they both were as well. It would be fair to say that quite an amount of subject matter would have been consumed during the making of the presentations. The advantages and also limitations of mobile phones (in their standard set up) also came to notice during the evening, illustrating that these meetings provide a platform for learning new techniques and ultimately getting more out of our photography. Droplets brought out the use of longer lenses at the airport, macro, night time and some had even used flash(!) to get their results. In all, a varied and enjoyable set of images on the two themes. The last few minutes of the evening were closed by Ian Scott who gave us a presentation of ‘Life before drones’ which was an insightful look at the maintenance issues of high buildings and using improvised camera set-ups to monitor wear and defects.
Thanks also to Ian for taking on the role of regular projectionist and making improvements to a long established system of actually getting members images onto the screen.
My thanks go to all who contributed images and supported the group throughout the season.
Lastly, the themes chosen for the first meeting of next season.(date has yet to be fixed). 1. (Up to) 10 images from the Summer. Whatever you choose! The good, the brilliant, the bad, what went wrong, how do fix this, I pressed that and got this, whatever…………... 2. Silhouettes.
